Celebrating and empowering women in the sparkling wine biz

The FIZZ is Female first launched in the fall of 2018. This spectacular event highlights female sparkling wine makers, brand owners, marketing experts, sommeliers, beverage directors, buyers and bubbly lovin’ media mavens.

Founded by New York Champagne Week creator and owner, Blaine Ashley aka @ChampagneBlaine, the single-day event typically offers up a ‘Leading Ladies in the FIZZ biz’ panel discussion followed by a female led, fizzy fueled wine tasting.

The FIZZ is Female is expanding nationally in 2020. The first stop will be Bâtonnage Forum in Sonoma on June 16, followed by San Francisco on June 17, Aspen Food & Wine, Hampton’s, NY in mid-summer, BBLS (a new sparkling wine festival) in San Diego August 28-29, with the final pit stop during the 7th Annual New York Champagne Week in November 2020.

The first-installment which took place in October 2018 in Ashley’s home-base of New York City featured leading ladies in the fizz biz from around the world including: Pauline Lhote, wine-maker, Chandon USA; Rita Jammet, owner of La Caravelle champagne; Tawnya Falkner, owner, Le Grand Courtage French sparkling; Lisa Mattson, marketing expert, Jordan Winery, and Jen Pelka, owner, The Riddler SF and NYC.

In November 2019, Ashley hosted a New York Champagne Week Edition highlighting female powerhouses in champagne like Elodie Marion, winemaker of Marion Bosser; Clemence Lelarge from Lelarge Pugeot and Nicole Hakli, National Brand Ambassador of Krug, which also boasts a female CEO and winemaker!
