This summer, Bâtonnage is back with a three-part online series: The Bâtonnage Sessions. We start with a networking session to reconnect our Bâtonnage community, followed by a conversation with one of the most decorated sommeliers in the world, and closing with a special mastermind workshop built to help participants navigate career challenges through community.

Bâtonnage has hosted speed networking sessions in person for years, and now we're bringing that experience online to reach more members of our community. The session combines guided introductions with curated one-on-one breakout conversations, paired by role, region, or career stage. We’ve partnered with business coach Emily Merrell, who knows a thing or two about turning a quick conversation into a real connection, to walk us through it.
Emily Merrell is dedicated to making the world feel smaller through genuine connections. She’s the Founder and Business Coach at Second Degree Society, a female-focused networking organization, offering curated connections, masterminds, and 1:1 business coaching. She also co-founded Ready Set Coach Community, a virtual space for female coaches to support one another.
Emily hosts two podcasts: The Second Degree and Ready Set Coach. Known affectionately as “20 Questions” by friends, her curiosity and energy are instantly recognizable.
After a 9-month post-college adventure in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Emily launched her career in fashion, working in special events and marketing for luxury brands like Ralph Lauren, Tory Burch, and Intermix.
Since becoming an entrepreneur in 2016, Emily’s expertise in community building, networking, and business coaching has been featured in Refinery29, Brit + Co, Girlboss, Forbes, Create & Cultivate, and HuffPost.
Now based in Denver after living in SF and NYC, Emily spends her free time with her sons Jackson and Frankie, exploring Human Design (she’s a Projector), hiking with her husband Greg, and planning taco nights.

Pascaline holds the Master Sommelier Diploma and is a Meilleur Ouvrier de France, and has spent her career behind some of New York's best wine programs, from Rouge Tomate to her current home at Chambers in TriBeCa. She's also gotten her hands dirty in production with chëpìka, her winemaking project in the Finger Lakes, and is an acclaimed author. Elaine sits down with her to talk through her path, the turns it's taken, and what she's learned along the way. Bring your questions.

Yes. These sessions are designed to be interactive, including breakout room discussions, so we ask that your camera stay on throughout. Please plan to log in from a computer / laptop / or iPad if you can. Phone is fine too, but try to be in a place where you can be on camera, actively participate in the conversation, and take notes.
